The medium that I work in is photography, and I love the process of being able to create my own photos. I’m not the most artistic person, so knowing that I have the ability to go through the photographic process is really impressive to me. I love being able take the pictures that I truly want to take and just have fun with it. The best part about photography for me is the fact that I get to express myself in my own unique way and sincerely enjoy it. I normally repeat themes that are common in everyday life such as sunlight, shadows, and nature, because I feel that the audience can relate to these themes the most. My favorite idea/topic that I enjoy exploring is the idea of gratitude because I want to take time to appreciate important things/people in my life.

 

The main influencer for my work would probably be my family. I definitely think that I use my photography as a way to show appreciation for my family and everything they do for me. This is also my main focus in photography since the idea that I explore the most is gratitude. I don’t really have a specific process for taking my photos because I discovered that I work better when my ideas are not limited. I’m not the most creative person, so I’ve found that when there is more room for self interpretation, I tend to work better. So, when taking photos or thinking of ideas, I normally just think about the prompt and write down/take photos of the first thing that pops into my head. As for my editing process, I try to use Photoshop tools that enhance the photo, such as contrast and levels, to bring out the natural elements of each image. By allowing room for interpretation, I experiment and try to change my approach for each photo so that all of my photos are unique.
